With heavy hearts, we honor the memory of Alhaji Ismail Aliyu, a retired Comptroller of Immigration, who departed this world on Friday, 17th January 2025. Alhaji Ismail was more than a distinguished public servant; he was a father, an uncle, a brother, and a son whose presence brought warmth, wisdom, and guidance to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was a man of unparalleled diligence and humanity, navigating his career and personal life with a blend of professionalism and compassion that left an indelible mark. Urban in outlook yet deeply rooted in traditional values, Alhaji Ismail possessed the rare ability to inspire through his actions and words.
On a personal note, I owe much of who I am today to Alhaji Ismail. During the six formative years I spent in his home while pursuing secondary education, he became more than a guardian—he became a teacher of life. Through his humility and quiet strength, he taught me lessons that continue to shape my path. He instilled in me the value of minding one’s business, of staying focused on one’s goals without being swayed by unnecessary distractions. His life was a testament to the power of integrity and humility in a world often driven by self-interest.
Alhaji Ismail was a pillar of support, a beacon of wisdom, and a source of love. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the principles he embodied. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived—a life dedicated to service, family, and the upliftment of others.
May Allah (SWT) grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and bring comfort to his family and all who grieve his loss. Rest well, Alhaji Ismail Aliyu. You will forever be remembered and cherished.
