The Arewa Youths Forum (AYF)
today described the emergence of
Bamanga Tukur as the national
chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) as a shame and bad
precedent. In a statement signed by
AYF’s leader, Gambo Ibrahim
Gujungu, the forum also criticized
PDP governors from the northern
states for failing to oppose President
Goodluck Jonathan’s scheme to
impose Mr. Tukur as the party’s
chairman.

Bamanga Tukur’s Emergence As
PDP Chairman: Confirmed
Conspiracy Against The North:
“The way and manner politics is
going in the Peoples Democratic
Party and in particular as it affects
Northern Nigeria calls for urgent
concern and reflection, though it is
their party affairs but it affects us
indirectly as a region bedeviled with
several challenges.
It is worrisome in the sense that it is
no longer news that the North more
than any region is facing critical
challenges of survival, socially,
economically, politically and all
other sectors of human endeavors
which can best be described as a
journey towards possible
disintegration or even extinction.
And so the kind of commitment
required to overcome our challenges
ought to be anchored on visionary
leadership, purposeful mentoring
aimed at bridging the gaps between
the young and the aged.
“Sir Ahmadu Bello our revered
leader died at 56 with series of
legacies that still abound nearly 50
years after his death. He also
understood the efficacy of grooming
and mentoring like John N.Paden
said in his famous book on our late
Premier Ahmadu Bello: Sardauna Of
Sokoto, Values and Leadership in
Nigeria. In Sir Ahmadu Bello, we saw
Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Ciroma, Ali
Akilu, Michael Audu Buba, Ishaya
Audu, Adamu Baikie and host of
others.
But today, who will come out as a
breed from power drunk men like
Bamanga Tukur and his allies from
the North? Wonders, they say shall
never end, so the emergence of a
GRAND-FATHER Alhaji Bamanga
Tukur confirmed this altruism at this
critical time Northern Nigeria is in,
and the country at large that daily
the future of the North is dwindling.
“It is on this premise that we make
the following observations:-
It is a shame to the PDP Northern
Governors for mortgaging the future
of the North by allowing themselves
to be dragged in to an
undemocratic means that imposed
a septuagenarian leader of their
party. It is clearly antics and
conspiracy against the region by
President Goodluck Jonathan, and
this is set back that will produce a
long-term consequence most
grievous to our region.
·
“We are calling on all other youths
in the North to shelve sentiment
aside and condemn in strong terms
this sham achievement, and
distance themselves from anything
related to these robots created by
President Goodluck Jonathan under
the tutelage of former President
Olusegun Obasanjo. It is a shame
and denigration of Northern Youths
in general.
“We challenge our elite again, to
prove their worth and value by
accelerating corrective measures for
ameliorating the mess their actions
and inactions caused the North. The
Northern economy and political
savvy is fast fading, and so this is
time for action and not feeding fat
on the miseries on the region; since
it has become a market for sales
and profits.”

Its sad that we are quick to speak on issues. Lets ask ourselves some simple questions: is Bamanga by any standard not qualify to contest for the PDP national chair? Is Bamanga not from the North-East and by extention the north? Was a gun held to the heads of the other ten aspirants (that included some of the brightest politician the north has produced i.e govs, ministers etc) to drop for Bamanga when they issued their statement? Have they complaint since then apart from the rattling of our over excited press? So what are we saying? Assuming the north was betrayed, my good fellow northern youths, the question is who actually betrayed us? Is it Mr President, Bamanga or our other elders who chickened out and refused daring and damming the consequencies if any at all in entering the contest. Let truth be told, we are now our own problem in the north. How many Chiromas, Awoniyis, Ishaya Audus who will choose to stand on the part of truth do we have. Today we have allow religious and ethnic difference to so divide us and that is why we keep getting weaker and weaker everyday as a region period! Please let Bamanga Tukur be. Infact the best we can do now is support him.
